In the popular US cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase Pro platform informed the that it was listing the Ethereum-based ERC20 tokens. As per the announcement, now the users of Coinbase Pro can transfer their balances of Civic (CVC), district0x (DNT), Loom Network (LOOM), and Decentraland (MANA).
However, these assets are not available on Coinbase.com yet or mobile apps. Another separate announcement will be made in the near future if that occurs. In the announcement which released on 7th October, it reads: “Once sufficient liquidity is established, trading will begin on each respective USDC order book. Trading will initially be accessible for Coinbase Pro users in the US (excluding NY), UK, European Union, Canada, Singapore and Australia.”
“Earlier this year we announced our intention to support the ERC20 technical standard across Coinbase. Following our recent launches of 0x (ZRX), Basic Attention Token (BAT), and our stablecoin, USDC (USD Coin) — all of which are built on Ethereum’s ERC20 standard — we’re now announcing support for Civic (CVC), district0x (DNT), Loom Network (LOOM), and Decentraland (MANA), on Coinbase Pro.”
Coinbase went on to acknowledge that the listing of the new tokens might be taken as the exchange ignoring other popular cryptocurrencies. The team went on to explain that their decision to list ERC20 tokens was due to the relative ease of integrating the standard on the platform.
As mentioned above, both services of Coinbase and Coinbase Pro are free to register, but trading fees vary. Availability of the new coins for more countries could also be added later.
Coinbase plans to list even more ERC20 tokens “over time” and reveals.
